Vlad Dracula (Bram Stoker’s Dracula, 1992)

 In Modern Classics

Way back in the 1990s a company, Horizon, unfortunately long out of business, released a series of vinyl model kits based on characters from the Francis Ford Coppola ‘Dracula’ film. Seen briefly during the beginning of the film is Vlad all decked out in his red knight outfit (harder to see blood stains on red armor). This Horizon kit effectively mimics the voivod in all his glory. Since this is a vinyl kit his legs were files with plaster of paris to add anti-sagging stability. His upper torso, including his arms, were filed with 3/32nd brass rod armature and expandable foam for stability. Both his sword and hilt are also of vinyl and very susceptible to sagging over time. To prevent this, to the backs of each was glued a length of cut aluminum for reinforcement and strength.
