Ming the Merciless

The science fiction screen villain that set the stage for all to follow was Ming the Merciless, first seen in the serial, Flash Gordon’s Trip to Mars, in 1936. Ming, played by actor Charles Middleton, exuded villainy with his raised fist exclaiming “I will conquer the Universe!”. This solid all-resin bust (1/2 scale?) was obtained at a Wonderfest show from a discard bin. Though the character is Ming the sculptor placed the name, ‘Flash Gordon’ on the base. Sort of like putting the name, ‘Frankenstein’, on a bust of Ygor. Nevertheless, I left the name intact instead of changing it since that is what the sculptor did. All paints are acrylics
