The Thing – Hands

 In Modern Classics

John Carpenter’s film, The Thing, has been a boon to the garage kit world and just about all images of the various Thing versions have been rendered in scale.  This 1/6th version of an early-on change in the film where the hands of the man are mutating into something else was brought to the world by the kind folks at Monsters in Motion.  The character runs out into the snow, drops to his knees, and begins the painful change.  All paints are acrylics.  LED lights are inserted under the nameplate.  Woodland Scenics snow flake effects were used on the base and clothing.  The first snow layer was sprinkled over brushed on gesso and once dry more snow was sprinkled and sealed with diluted white glue.  Lastly, the snow base was matte sealed.
