“The Thing” Lizard Head (1981)
John Carpenter’s version of the film, The Thing, set new standards for practical effects, all due to the genius of Rob Bottin. This 1/6th scale version of a ‘Thing’ was produced by the kind folks at Alternate Images, sculpted by William Paquet. This figure has just about a little of everything. Multiple sets of teeth, eyes, limbs, dog head, organs, and biology parts of ‘not-sure-what-that-is’, not to mention that exploding lizard head. Paints were acrylics, highlighted with various stains, washes, and chalks. The snow on the base is Woodland Scenics snow effects.
