The Valley of Gwangi (1969)

 In Harryhausen

The film, The Valley of Gwangi, features an allosaurus-like dinosaur stop-motion animated by the great Ray Harryhausen.  This 1/18th scale all-resin diorama, sculpted by Joe Laudati and released by Monsters in Motion, creates a key scene in the film when a cowboy lassos Gwangi.  Prior to this Gwangi attacks and kills another dinosaur and this is also depicted in this diorama.  The molded rope originally included with the cowboy was removed and to-scale twine was used in place.  A hole was drilled through the hand and the rope was wound through and then attached to Gwangi.  This large all solid heavy diorama is 18″ x11″.  All paints are acrylic.
